Equinox Cup - Event Format

Overview

The Equinox Cup is a friendly, match play competition between members of Red Tail Golf Club and Butter Brook Golf Club. Each team is comprised of 16 players who will participate in both four-ball and single matches.

Rules

The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play with the exception of any local rules established by the PGA Professional at the host course. Local rules will be distributed to players before the beginning of play.

Matches will be played utilizing 80% of each player's course handicap as established by the September 15, 2012 handicap revision. During singles matches, opponents will stroke off the lower handicap. During four-ball matches, players will stroke off the low handicap player in the group. Scorecards will be distributed for each match before the beginning of play.

As this is a competition between members, matches will be played from the 'member tees'. Specifically, the blue tees at Butter Brook Golf Club and the silver tees at Red Tail Golf Club.

During the singles matches, each player may consider the teammate in the accompanying match his partner and therefore may both solicit and provide advice as stipulated by Rule 8-1 of the Rules of Golf.

Matches & Pairings

Matches will be hosted at Butter Brook Golf Club on Saturday and at Red Tail Golf Club on Sunday. Accordingly, the Team Butter Brook Captain will announce his pairings first, and the Team Red Tail Captain will then announce his pairings for Saturday's matches. As Red Tail Golf Club is hosting Sunday, the Team Red Tail Captain will announce his pairings first.

Scoring

Each day of the competition will feature 4 four ball matches and 8 singles matches, with a total of 24 points up for grabs. As Team Red Tail extended the invitation for this inagural event, Team Butter Brook needs to win 12.5 points in order to win the Equinox Cup.
